Dan River Middle School’s basketball team capped off a remarkable 10-1 season with a dramatic 45-44 victory over Carlisle. Led by first-year head coach Bobby Morrison, the Wildcats overcame early adversity, including a narrow second-game loss to Westwood Middle, to win eight straight games. The team outscored opponents 455-309 and had every player contribute at least one basket during the season.

Morrison emphasized teamwork, accountability, and academic success, with 86% of players earning academic honors. Key players included J. Davis, who led in scoring (109 points) and rebounding (67), and Gregory, who led in steals (26). Team captains Gabe Carter and Easton Stoler played vital leadership roles, while younger players also had meaningful contributions. Morrison credited the team’s maturity, resilience, and commitment as key to their success. Principal Chris Knick and Assistant Coach Terrell Davis praised the team’s dedication both on and off the court, making this season a defining moment for Dan River basketball.
