On Wednesday, August 28th, Dan Middle School competed in the Southside Cross Country Invitational, taking home multiple awards. Ally Osborne finished first in the girls 3k with a time of 13 minutes and 48 seconds (7th best overall), Jewel Williams finished in 6th place, while Lexi Brown and Azeryah Poteat finished in 13th and 14th place.
The Dan River boys' team also excelled, finishing first with a combined score of 33 and an overall time of 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 20 seconds. Aiden Cook finished 2nd place with a time of 12 minutes and 43 seconds, followed by Jayden Alderson in 3rd, Landon Leader in 6th, Charlie Jones in 8th, and Jacob Lee in 14th place. Other team members are Christopher Knick, Benjamin Chandler, Mason Hoskins, Gavin Burch, Graham Hoskins and Grant Hudson. The DRMS Cross Country coach is Ms. Amanda Monk. The next meet is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4th, at Dan River High School.
The top 10 female and male individuals received medals.
