COVID-19 Message from the Principal

March 17, 2020

Dear Dan River Middle Parents, Staff, and Students,

Good afternoon!  I am sending important information for parents and students regarding school closure due to the COVID-19 virus.  At Dan River Middle School, we understand that these are very uncertain times that we are facing in our world. As we all navigate through these uncharted waters, we want to ensure that we are providing the best academic support possible for our students, even from afar.

During this week of closure, Pittsylvania County Schools is treating the week as if we are out for inclement weather.  All activities scheduled have, of course, been cancelled.  Parents, if you wish for your child to have access to educational assignments and practices over break, please have your student log-in to their Google classroom accounts.  Teachers have posted work and will be content will continue to be available through the platform as needed.

I have also constructed a Google classroom for the school that holds all material for all grades as well as additional educational resources for parents and students.  This Google classroom is open to all gmail accounts with the access code - 7d2jamy.

Parents and students, please use this code to join the classroom to gain access to all content available.  Parents without internet access can come by the school beginning today, Tuesday, March 17th during specific times to pick up a paper version of the packets found online. Packet pickup times are Tuesday - Friday from 9 - 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 - 3 p.m..

Parents who are in need of assistance with accessing Google Classroom can visit the Pittsylvania County Schools website, click on the Parent Tab and access How to Use Google Classroom.  If you need further assistance, please feel free to contact our office.

At Dan River Middle School, we are a family and as a family, we will endure this crisis together. It is our sincere hope that each of you are taking the necessary precautions to keep yourself and your family safe.

Thank you for your patience and your continued support during this ever changing situation.  If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Warm wishes,
Emily Reynolds
